Roof Waterproofing

Bituminous waterproofing membranes can be reinforced with glass fiber or polyester fabric impregnated with bitumen and wrapped on both sides with two layers of high quality modified bitumen. Depending on theirpurpose these membranes can be with or without coating. Their main advantage is due to the modification of bitumen moisture inside them. It is performed with various types of polymers APP (atactic polypropylene) and SBS (styrene butadiene styrene) thereby the engineering properties of the bitumen are drastically improving - increased softening temperature, high resistance to low temperatures, durability of the bitumen and delaying the aging process.


In order to implement bituminous membranes the following must be done:

-          The surfacemust be dry, smooth, without bumps and sharp objects on it, the humidity should not exceed more than 5%.

-          Primingto homogenize the surface layer, based as it contributes to a better adhesion of the bituminousmembraneto the surface.

-          Gaslaying on an already prepared surface. So heated in the manner of curing the membrane is glued to the surface.

Of coursethere are several methods for laying bituminousmembranesas the main ones are: freelyapplied; partly gas laying as the membrane is being partially welded on the seams and full flame application.

Synthetic waterproofing membranes - PVC and TPO (The latest waterproof coating products with undeniable advantages for flat roofs!)

These membranes have very good mechanical properties - high temperature and wind resistance, UV protection and resistance to aging. The production technology is based on co- extruction as synthetic waterproofing membranes can be homogeneous, reinforced with polypropylene (PP) network or stabilized with glass fiber. It is possible to be combined with geotextile which makes them suitable for application by fully gluing or using them as insulation on chemically incompatible materials.


Synthetic and EPDM membranes must be applied ​​by certified and trainedpersonnel, installed with specialized equipment sowe offer those materials with delivery and installation with guarantees.
Synthetic membranes are used in waterproofing of roofs, green roofs, waterproofing of underground structures such as building foundations, on piles, diaphragm walls, tunnels, waterproofing of dams, reservoirs and canals, as well as waterproofing of swimming pools. Synthetic membranes can be applied on rough and uneven surfaces with the appropriate layer of geotextile which serves as a protective or separating layer. According to their function there are several systems that have been developed for the installation of synthetic membranes: freely applied​​, welded with hot gas on joints, applied with ballasted system, mechanically fixed and fully bonded to the substrate.


Particularly attractive variety of synthetic are the so called PVC designer  membranes.
They combine the beauty of traditional materialsalong with amodern technology. Decorative moldings can be added to reproduce the beauty of traditional folded metal seams.
These membranes represent a combination of real copper powder and thermo - plastic membrane. They are a substitute for copper plates. This product eliminates the risks associated with conventional metal roofs in which water penetrates as a result of corrosion. It is also more inexpensive material than copper plates.

The combination of real copper powder and thermo - plastic membrane ensures that all these  membranes will oxidize over the years because of the copper and will change their color from yellowish brown to dark brown as true copper when exposed to weathering.
This typy of membrane is an innovative and modern waterproofing membrane that can be fixed or linked mechanically to provide an impressive and lasting finish. Another advantage is that it is light weight which makesit a top choice for a new roof or repairs. The system is compatible with most supporting structures, including wood, metal and concrete.


The other type of designer PVC waterproofing membranes represent a combination of aluminum powder and thermo - plastic membrane. Aluminium powder is part of the synthetic PVC membrane and determines the color of the material. Thanks to the aluminum powder the color of the membrane does not change over time. This membrane is the perfect solution for any type of roof due to its lightness.


It is compatible with most of the supporting structures, including wood, metal, concrete and most common heat insulation materials. It is applied to the roof structure with mechanical fixing or sticking.
The benefits consist of excellent mechanical resistance; excellent resistance to UV rays; perfect waterproofing of any profile and any design projects; and it is a low-maintenance material.


Synthetic membranes are also recyclable. They are absolutely harmless to the atmosphere due to their low energetic installation by welding them with hot air.
